Dear Readers,

My name is Alejandro Marjalizo Martinez and I am Chief Technical and Operations Officer at Hanseatic Energy Hub. I am pleased to share with you the latest news and highlights in this edition.

What is currently happening on the construction site? Every day, we are working to bring the HEH terminal to life. What may sound like a straightforward statement means, in practice represents an extraordinary effort, an enormous amount of coordination, technical precision, and the seamless collaboration between many people, partners, and specialist contractors. All of us are driven and united by a shared sense of pride – the pride of being part of this project. A project that will fundamentally reshape infrastructure in Germany and across Europe.

Here's a look at how the terminal is steadily taking shape. The bases of both tanks, so called slabs, have been poured and completed. The full construction sequence, execution process, and concrete quality were all closely monitored and subject to rigorous quality control until completion. At the end of February, sixteen open rack vaporisers (ORVs) arrived in Stade by ship from Japan. Due to their exceptional size, they were transported overnight by heavy goods vehicles to a temporary storage facility to avoid disrupting daytime traffic. ORVs are a centrepiece of the terminal’s regasification plant. These are major milestones, which we cover in our "Moment" section.

And there is more we can look upon with a certain degree of pride. Take our growing ties with the Stade industrial park, into which we are becoming more and more integrated. In the "Details" section, you will learn about the synergies and advantages of the location that add significant value to our project. The theme of connection and collaboration also runs through our "Hand in Hand" section, where we introduce Avacon Netz GmbH, who are delivering the terminal's power grid connection. None of this work goes without careful planning and well-coordinated collaborations.

One person who keeps a clear overview amidst all the varied tasks is Oliver Pippow. As Balance of Plant Manager, he brings together the right people and companies for the tasks at hand, day in, day out. We are very pleased that Oliver agreed to be interviewed for our "Portrait" section.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the many dedicated people who give their best every day and consistently go beyond fulfilling their mere responsibilities.

We hope you enjoy reading this edition of "HEH News!” And of course, please do not hesitate to get in touch with any questions or suggestions.

Yours sincerely,
Alejandro Marjalizo Martinez

After a winter of freezing temperatures with plenty of snow slowed progress, work on site is gradually picking up pace again. By the end of March, all seven concrete sections for both slabs had been completed.

On behalf of Hanseatic Energy Hub, the Technical Network Services division of Avacon Netz GmbH is constructing the electrical infrastructure needed to connect the terminal to Avacon's 110 kV grid. They provide customers with tailored, grid-adjacent services to ensure their energy reaches the network safely with a product portfolio ranging from turnkey substation solutions and customer connection substations to AC and DC charging infrastructure, medium-voltage line construction, and street lighting.

Why is the Hanseatic Energy Hub being built specifically in Stade? The location on the Elbe is just one of many factors. What is truly decisive is the industrial park itself, with its unique set of conditions: more than 50 years of experience working with liquefied gases, well-established infrastructure, and the ability to connect matters that would remain separate elsewhere.
