HEH – Details: Synergies That matter – Why Stade's Industrial Park gives HEH the Edge
Broad Networks and Deep Expertise
Since the late 1960s, one of Lower Saxony's most significant industrial sites has taken shape in Bützfleth/Stade. Today, around 2,500 people work in what is officially known as the "ChemCoastPark". What makes it special is that the site thrives on collaboration between companies from the chemical, logistics, and energy sectors. Firms share infrastructure, supply one another, and create synergies. One company's output becomes another's input. The terminal fits seamlessly into this logic and strengthens it.
One of many specific examples is the intelligent use of Dow's waste heat by HEH for regasification: the ice-cold liquefied natural gas is converted back into its gaseous state through a thermal process, ready to be fed into the gas grid. Elsewhere, this would demand additional energy and investment. This is good for the environment and only possible thanks to the proximity to existing heat emitters and the well-developed infrastructure.
A Regional Energy Hub with International Reach
The terminal benefits from an ideal logistical position. It is connected to Lower Saxony's second-largest seaport with direct access to the North Sea and the Port of Hamburg. Added to this is the proximity to the A26 and A1 motorways, as well as the railway marshalling yard in Maschen. Liquefied gases can therefore be distributed by ship, lorry and by rail to the greater Hamburg area, across Germany and Europe.
HEH substantially benefits from the established structures of Stade's industrial park, the existing infrastructure as well as the long-standing expertise of people and companies in the area. At the same time HEH strengthens the site as a modern energy hub providing economic momentum and an appeal that extends well beyond the region.
