HEH – Hand in Hand: “Safety is achieved through clear processes and effective collaboration”
What is the significance of your work specifically for the terminal?
HSE stands for "Health, Safety & Environment". As the HEH Site HSE Manager, I ensure that the agreed safety processes are consistently implemented and adhered to. The terminal project is characterised by the multitude of trades and stakeholders involved. This creates a unique dynamic and requires close coordination between all parties – from construction workers to project managers.
At the end of the day, my work contributes to ensuring that the terminal is built safely and sustainably for everyone involved. We place the utmost importance on HSE standards, which not only covers occupational safety but also includes aspects such as environmental protection.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
The variety and the interaction with so many different people! I work with construction workers, foremen, and managers. This constantly opens up new perspectives. It’s rewarding to see that we all share the same goal: a safe and successful project. The challenge lies in harmonising different experiences and viewpoints. It’s this mix of communication, planning, and collaboration that ensures my job is never boring.
How do you relax after work?
After an intense day, I enjoy the tranquillity of motorcycling – the helmet helps me block out everything else to fully focus on the ride. On other days, I enjoy cooking, often with friends. Music also plays a role: I play the guitar and love attending concerts. This combination of calm, socialising, and music helps me clear my mind and recharge.
