Publication of the application documents for the Stade LNG terminal

Stade – With the publication of the application and complete application documents for constructing and operating a facility for storing and regasifying liquefied natural gas (LNG terminal) in Stade-Bützfleth, the responsible Staatliche Gewerbeaufsichtsamt Lüneburg (State Trade Inspectorate Lüneburg) has officially initiated the approval procedure in accordance with the Ordinance on the Implementation of the Federal Immission Control Act.  The documents will be available for public inspection from 27 April to 26 May 2023.

Citizens affected by the scheme as well as towns and municipalities will be given the opportunity to participate in the process. In subsequent discussion meetings with the responsible authority, comments provided by them will then be taken into consideration and carefully weighed up against each other. If the approval procedure is successfully concluded in accordance with Section 9 of Germany’s Federal Immission Control Act (BImSchV), a notice of approval will be granted pursuant to Section 4, on the basis of which the main construction work can begin.

The Hanseatic Energy Hub (HEH) is a future flexible terminal for liquified natural gases at the Stade industrial site. The independent hub secures and diversifies Germany´s import needs for affordable energy. In the initial expansion stage, a zero-emission LNG terminal is set to go into operation from 2027, with infrastructure also approved for bio-LNG and SNG. The planned regasification capacity is 13.3 bcm/a, with a send-out capacity of 21.7 GW.
