LNG is a non-toxic, colourless, odourless liquid. The acronym LNG stands for Liquefied Natural Gas. After the liquefaction at -162°C and atmospheric pressure, it is condensed to just 1/600 of its volume in a gaseous state, making it easy to transport and store. The extremely modern insulation materials used in ship and storage tanks mean that no gas is lost and no additional cooling is required. The same applies to Bio-LNG and SNG.
15%
of current German gas demand could be covered through the import terminal in Stade alone.
160000
households can be supplied with gas for one year through one shipment.
